The Moving Joint is very honored to have a talented physical therapist, Pam Leitner, onsite. Clients are treated by her if there is ongoing pain or structural problems that need further medical attention.  Pam  blends the Pilates system of exercise with orthopedic manual therapy and traditional physical therapy techniques to rehabilitate patients with various physical and structural problems.  Her expertise is demonstrated by the focused attention she dedicates to each patient, which results in her patients consistently reaching and surpassing their goals.

Injury prevention is critical to successful exercise, fitness, sports and daily routines. If you have a reoccurring pain, muscle strain or recent injury, Dr. Leitner will give you a thorough evaluation and develop an individualized treatment plan incorporating the latest evidence-based techniques with state of the art equipment, specifically designed to get fast results!  With over 25 years of experience as an orthopedic manual therapist physical therapist, and 10 years as a certified Pilates Instructor, Dr. Leitner’s specialized hands on approach educates patients while helping them improve strength, flexibility and maximal performance whether it be sport related or just everyday living.

About Pam

Dr. Leitner has been practicing physical therapy for over 30 years.  She earned her BS in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach in 1981.  She  completed her clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in 2005.  Dr Leitner has been a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist since 1991 and became certified as a Pilates Instructor by Long Beach Dance Conditioning under the tutelage of Marie Jose Blom in 2000.  She qualified as a Pilates Method Alliance Pilates teacher in 2006.  After working in a variety of hospital based settings and clinics throughout the area, including Centinela Sports Medicine/Kerlan Jobe Orthopedics and The Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica she went into private practice focusing on orthopedic, sports medicine and manual therapy in and around the Venice/Marina del Rey area.  She also taught in the Physical Therapy Dept at Mount St Mary’s College from 1991-1995 and has presented workshops on a variety of topics in rehabilitation and Pilates throughout the Southern California area.

Blending traditional physical therapy, best current practices/research based protocols and Pilates based rehab, Dr. Leitner is uniquely qualified to guide her patients from injury or physical trauma back to their sport, fitness activity or just everyday function.  After a thorough biomechanical evaluation, Dr. Leitner will develop a specific treatment plan to help resolve muscle imbalance, restore mobility and strength and resolve pain using hands on and exercise specific approach for which she is  well-known by local doctors and trainers throughout the local area.

In addition, Pam makes custom foot orthotics using either traditional plaster casting or computerized digital scanner.  Once the foot is molded and appropriate corrections are made, the orthotic can address pathological foot and lower extremity malalignments to enhance performance whether it be for walking, running or specific sports.
